Science Cluib! Round one to the boring!!
Well the first science club meeting went so well! NOT!!
Four children turned up!! FOUR!! For ease of the lesson, I thought lets do something about plants. So I decided on the celery experiment. This experiment is where you soak celery in dyed water so that the veins show up when you cut the celery up! A nice sumple experiment I thought to break them in and also it would incorporate the garden and plants outside durin the fine weather! This did not go down well, so I think I will have to now bring out the big guns early! Tomorrow we will begin the Volcano experiment! This project will help them understand about reactions and non-reversible reactions. How am I going to keep the students interested? By introducing a fun way to make a lot of mess!! Mess and science, fun and science. It’s a great mix if you want them to remember! Years from now in their exams and it ask them for an example of a non-reversible reaction they will hopefully think back to that fateful (and messy) day they blew up a volcano with red food due, washing up liquid and lots and lots of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda!
Lets just hope we don’t cause to much mess!!
